After placing the Ilma tape hair extensions, it is necessary to care for them properly. That is why we would like to give you the tips below so that you can enjoy your hair extensions for a long time.

For putting the hair extensions

  • Color your roots before applying the hair extensions.
  • Wash your hair with special degreasing shampoo.
  • Then dry your hair so that you apply the tape to dry hair.
  • Style your hair the way you like to wear it so that you can neatly place the tape.

Treatment advice

  • You can wash your hair 48 hours after placing the hair extensions. This allows the tapes to harden properly first.
  • Wash your hair in a position with your hair falling back, such as standing or sitting. Never wash your hair in a bent-over position.
  • Wash your hair with a shampoo with a PH value lower than 5.6. This can be an 'every day' shampoo, a baby shampoo or a special hair extensions shampoo. In our webshop you will find the two shampoos that we recommend for washing our hair extensions. Visit the webshop.
  • Apply the shampoo to the scalp. Massage it gently without making circular movements.
  • Do not use conditioner, anti-dandruff shampoo, 2-in-1 shampoo or anti-tangle application with the tapes. Using these products can cause you to lose your hair extensions.
  • If you want to use a mask, conditioner, anti-tangle shampoo or treatment, apply it beyond the tapes. Also rinse these products well so that they do not come into contact with the tapes. In our webshop we recommend various care products such as masks, oil and mousse. Visit the webshop.

Drying/Styling

  • You can dry and blow-dry the hair extensions.
  • Do not touch the tapes with a straightener or curling iron.
  • Dry your hair with a hairdryer after washing. Pay extra attention to the drying of the tapes. If the tapes remain wet, they can deteriorate and peel off.
  • If the hair remains too moist, it is difficult to comb and therefore more brittle.
  • Heat sources cannot be placed too close to the tapes. If you do this, the tape may become soft and sticky.

Brushing the hair

  • Brush and sort your hair at least twice a day. Use a special extension brush for this. You will find these here in our webshop.
  • Separate your hair extensions every day. This prevents fallen hairs that get stuck in the tapes from forming a tangle.
  • Comb and brush your hair from the bottom and go 5 centimeters higher each time.

Swimming, exercising, sauna, sleeping

  • Tie your hair in a loose ponytail or braid while sleeping, swimming, exercising or in the sauna. This is how your hair protects the tapes.
  • After these activities, immediately loosen your hair and wash/rinse it and dry it with the hair dryer.

Finish products

  • Go to a hairdresser with experience in caring for hair extensions for perming, dyeing and color rinsing of the hair extensions.
  • Do not bleach your hair extensions. This causes them to become dry and the tapes may break or be lost.
  • Never use alcohol-containing products.
  • Hair dryer foam, wax, gel and oil-containing products should not come into contact with the tapes, so keep your distance. The hair extensions may fall and/or you may lose them.
  • The hair extension colors are usually a bit drier. It is a good idea to take extra good care of it with a nourishing mask and other nourishing products for dry and frizzy hair. We sell these serums and masks (here) in our webshop.

Replace the tapes after six weeks. If you leave the tapes on for longer, they may become tangled. The tape will also become stronger over time, making it more difficult to loosen when you want to remove them.

Guarantee

  • If a tape falls out within a month - and you have followed the treatment advice - we will replace the tape free of charge. Based on our experience, it can be determined whether the tape coming loose was an insertion error or whether it was due to the way it was cared for.
  • If you do not follow our treatment advice, the warranty on your hair extensions will lapse.
  • The supplier of the hair extensions provides a guarantee on the hair itself.
  • If you have had hair extensions fitted for the first time, you can come back after about 1 month to have everything checked. This is not necessarily necessary, but there may still be some uncertainties and/or questions that we can discuss.

Wearing hair extensions is entirely at your own risk!
